DSI Chromic Catgut is an absorbable suture of animal origin, primarily composed of pure collagen from the submucosal layer. To make it more resistant to tissue liquid enzymes, a coating containing chromic salts is applied which increases its longevity and offers superior healing upon absorption. This particular suture type is derived from the intestines of both sheep (bovine) and goats. DSI Chromic Catgut is an absorbable monofilament suture of natural origin that the body reabsorbs through phagocytosis. This surgical suture exhibits a high tensile strength during tie down, good safety and firmness in the knot, as well as and excellent quality for handling. What makes this particular suture ideal is its ability to join tissues that need to regenerate rapidly.

The absorption time for DSI Chromic Catgut suture is estimated to be within a 50 - 70 day range and its tensile strength will stay in place for two weeks. This allows it to be used in tissues with a fast recovery rate and those internal structures that cannot be accessed again to remove the suture.

Product Details

DSI Chromic Catgut is an absorbable thread created by a unique process. It involves winding together strands of purified collagen sourced from bovine intestines (free from BSE and aphthous fever) that carry a uniform chromic coating. To ensure the highest quality, the natural Chromic Catgut thread is ground with precision to achieve a near-monofilament character and treated using a glycerol-containing solution.

DSI Sutures are of the highest grade in terms of sterility and meet stringent "Grade A" sterilization standards. This process involves radiology techniques, as well as gamma-ray sterilization, which can take up to one month to complete without interruption. All sutures are licensed by CE and ISO and will come packaged with a double layer of sterile protection inside aluminum foil for an added level of security.

Crafted with careful attention to detail, DSI Suture needles are made from a 300-series surgical steel alloy. Meticulously designed to be as slim as possible without comprising strength, their laser-sharpened edges ensure that sutures can be successfully passed through tissue with minimal injury. Crafted with exceptional rigidity to avoid any bending, while ductility minimizes breaking. Incredibly stable in a needle holder and resilient against corrosion.

Each size is comes in a box of 12 Individual sterile packs of 75 cm/ 30'' suture with pre-installed 19 mm reverse cut 3/8 circle atraumatic needle
